Autumn Leaves Jazz at Heritage Estate (on Mother’s Day!)
May 12 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm$20
An afternoon of fine wine, cheese platters and jazz awaits this Mother’s Day at Heritage Estate Wines, in the cellar door’s stunning heritage surrounds, at Cottonvale, north of Stanthorpe.
New owners Therese and Robert Fenwick, are welcoming the continuation of the cellar door’s very popular jazz events.
“We went to Jazzify’s November event last year and loved it,” said Mrs Fenwick. “It was a very happy day and we’re keen to continue the good times this Mother’s Day.”
“Jazzify Combo has two guest musicians joining them, Ian Craig on trombone and Michael Stemmler on trumpet, for touch of trad jazz on the day. A six-piece band is a bit special so it’s going to be a great way to spend Mother’s Day, or any Sunday afternoon.”
Ian Craig’s interest in jazz started early. He remembers being told off in school orchestra for “swinging it too much”. He came to Australia from the UK about 20 years ago, and not long after joined the Toowoomba Jazz Society. Ian currently lectures part-time at USQ in Engineering and is learning gypsy jazz guitar.
Michael Stemmler is originally from Switzerland and has been in Australia for just over 35 years. He started learning classical trumpet and flugel horn at the age of ten, but jazz concerts inspired his interest in another area of music. In 1988 Michael joined Toowoomba Jazz Society and has been playing regularly, with Ian Craig and other musician members, ever since.
“This Mother’s Day all are welcome to join us for a swinging afternoon of award-winning wine, wholesome food and some wonderful songs. Make sure you book to ensure a seat.”
