Dog Friendly Breweries
Sit outdoors to enjoy an ale or two with your best pal by your side at Granite Belt Brewery. Dogs are welcomed on their spacious rear deck, where you can soak up the beautiful surroundings while enjoying a delicious meal or a refreshing drink.
For a spot that has liqueurs, wine, beer and many more heavenly Granite Belt made liquids onsite, drop in to dog-friendly Castle Glen Australia. Forget the dog house, this is a castle where dogs are welcome to play around on the large grassy area out front, plus small, well-behaved dogs are welcome inside.
Looking to have a drop of local wine with your pooch? Check out these dog friendly cellar doors in Granite Belt Wine Country that get ‘two paws up’.
Pawsitively Wonderful Spots to Explore
Donnelly’s Castle is the perfect spot to discover the giant granite boulders of the Granite Belt with your dog (a great dog-friendly alternative to Girraween National Park). You’ll love the excitement of discovering this spot that was once a bushranger hideout as much as your dog does, squeezing through narrow crevices between giant boulders, into cave-like openings and the views from lookout up the top.
Sentimental Rocks is another spot to walk through the bush and the region’s famed granite boulders that’s dog friendly. Located right on the edge of Stanthorpe town this is an easy short walk and great alternative to Girraween National Park.
There are kilometres of walking paths that follow Quart Pot Creek winding right through the Stanthorpe township, perfect for taking your dog for a walk on the lead. Find off-leash areas accessed from Connor Street between Talc Street and Britannia Street, or Allison Street, off Archibald Street. At one end of town continue a little further to The Red Bridge.
Check out Mt Marlay in Stanthorpe, up the short steep winding road for amazing views of the town. At the top find free mounted binoculars and while you’re there make sure you follow the pathway and have a short walk to encircle the summit of the mountain.
This man-made pyramid is certainly not what you’d expect to find in the middle of a Queensland paddock! Find the Ballandean Pyramid on Jacobsons Road, just outside of Ballandean. Walk, cycle or drive the 1.9kms with your dog along the quiet county road from Ballandean (Jacobsens Road begins opposite the Ballandean Tavern). The pyramid is on private property, but it’s viewable from the road and worth a look! We recommend keeping your dog on a leash when walking by the roadside.
