Family Friendly Wineries in Queensland’s Granite Belt

Stanthorpe and the Granite Belt is the ultimate Queensland wine destination. And the good news is it’s possible to have your wine and drink it too with the kids in tow at these family-friendly wineries.

Here’s our handpicked selection of the best kid-friendly wineries in the Granite Belt.

Ridgemill Estate

While Ridgemill Estate is considered one of Stanthorpe’s must-visit wineries, it’s not just for adults.

Grown-ups can delve their way into their boutique wines and pick their favourite drop to unwind with on the deck overlooking the vineyard.

Families are welcome to make the most of the vineyard’s spacious 40 acres with room to kick the footy, use the free bikes and enjoy a picnic pack on the lawns or in the vines. Pets can come along too.

Little ones will love feeding the ever-popular resident goats and unofficial welcoming committee to the cellar door.

Want to stay longer? (who are kidding? Of course, you will!). Check out their family-friendly ‘Winery Escape House’ and wake up to vineyard views. Sleeping up to 6 guests.

Kick back and relax knowing the kids are having a great time too at Balancing Heart Vineyard.

Sit back, relax and take in the stunning valley views from the deck or grassy alfresco areas as you sample through their award-winning and popular wines.

Kids will love making their way through the vineyard to find the famous balancing rock that the winery is named after and meeting the local adorable highland cows who call Balancing Heart home.

This cellar door has a family-friendly vibe, opening up until 9am daily during school holidays.

Hungry? The wood-fired pizzas here will even have the fussiest of eaters wanting a slice too.

Located just 10 minutes’ drive from Girraween National Park day use area, it makes for a great post-hiking adventure for little legs.

Summit Estate

Summit Estate is an idyllic setting for a family afternoon sprawled in the sun.

Gather the troops and time your trip to this cellar door with their Sunset Sessions held on Fridays and Saturdays. Find a spot at their picnic tables or rolling lawns and set up to watch the big sky sunset over the vineyards followed by a campfire.

For the kids, bring a football, lawn games or a deck of cards. And for you? Sit back and enjoy a glass (or two) of their elegant wines.

Bonus, pets are welcome too!

Plan a trip before arriving at this cellar door to the Granite Belt Maze just a 5-minute drive away.

Ballandean Pub

The newly renovated Ballandean Pub (opened March 2024) has been completely transformed with families in mind by owners Adam and Sammie.

Find a mega-sized kids playground, beer garden and spacious deck overlooking the lawns that makes for a great spot to sip away on local crafts at sunset. Book a table for lunch or dinner.

Jester Hill Wines

Jester Hill is family-owned and operated, with a cellar door that welcomes the whole family including fur babies.

Visiting this cellar door, meet the owners who lovingly craft in-house from grape to glass whose mission is to ensure every gathering of friends and family is made more memorable with their beautiful wines.
