What made you decide to become a winemaker?

“I have a background in the drinks business and love the creative side of winemaking, so it was fate.”  

What did your introduction to winemaking look like?

“One foot in front of the other, one step at a time. I learnt basic hands-on skills in the beginning, on the job, progressed to a TAFE course and then enrolled in a bachelor of technology (wine) USQ. After 25 years in the local wine industry I have had hard days at work, but I haven’t worked a day in that time – I love what I do.”  

What were you doing before you became a winemaker?

“Worked in Pubs and Clubs”  

What does your day-to-day actually look like?

“That’s very difficult to answer because, so many things happen and need to be done in the course of any one day with a small but busy winery cellar door.”  

Do you have a favourite product?

“I have 2 favourites and they are both the most interesting drinks on the planet, Chardonnay and Saperavi.”  

When you’re not winemaking, what do you like to do out and about on the Granite Belt?

“Spending time with my family and making sourdough bread”
