What made you decide to become a winemaker?
“Long term interest and opportunity as well as a love of the Granite Belt.”
What did your introduction to winemaking look like?
“Starting by picking grapes, then doing a bit in some vineyards here and later moving into the winery work.”
Did you have a career before?
“Yes. I was previously a carpenter and a Physical Education teacher.”
What does your day-to-day actually look like?
“Varies a lot depending on the season. Winter is pruning, spring – canopy management, summer – lots of vineyard work. Harvest is between February and April. Mostly winery work during this time.”
Do you have a favourite product, or one you are most excited about and why?
“I really enjoy making Chardonnay.”
Do you have a favourite tool in your trade, that you just couldn’t live/work without?
“My new tractor!”
What do you wish everyone knew about your products?
“That we do everything from Grape to Glass.”
When you’re not winemaking, what do you like to do out and about on the Granite Belt?
“I love enjoying the walks and scenery in Girraween National Park, just a few kilometres up the road from our winery.”
