The Folly Truffles are Queensland’s first commercial truffiere. Our French Black Perigord truffles are grown with love on our small family farm in Ballandean, on Queensland’s Granite Belt.
Truffle harvest occurs June to August – that’s the time to join the truffle dog hunts, but there are tour options all year round.
Tea with a Truffle Farmer Tour
Book a Saturday or Sunday tour: September to May.
Maple will take you on a tour of the truffière to walk amongst the trees and see where the truffles are grown. This shorter tour will be educational, informative and very scenic!
After showing you the trees and where the truffles are grown, we conclude the tour at the truffle chalet where you can enjoy a complementary tea or coffee, browse our truffle literature and have opportunity to purchase local products, including truffles (subject to availability) straight from the farmer.

If you feel like making your own picnic, we have other delicious local products available for purchase to enjoy on on the deck of the cottage as you soak in the view and relax in picture perfect surrounds.
Truffle Hunt Tour
Truffle hunting occurs from June to August, with Saturday and Sunday morning tours available to book in those months.
Join us for an intimate tour of the truffière where you will learn about all things truffle. You will have the opportunity to walk amongst the trees and ask questions while Barry the truffle dog will show you how he sniffs to find them.
We will then dig for truffles and you will be able to experience first-hand the thrill of the hunt. At the conclusion of the tour, we will warm up at the cottage with a complementary tea or coffee, some truffle tastings and you will have the opportunity to purchase truffles (subject to availability) straight from the farmer.
Tours commence at 10.30am and finish around 12.30. Book in at the Barrelroom restaurant at Ballandean Estate afterwards to enjoy our truffles for lunch. Maximum 6 people per hunt to ensure everyone can get their hands dirty!
