Overview
The Folly is Queensland’s first commercial truffle farm, situated in Ballandean, Queensland, at the heart of Granite Belt Wine Country. The Folly Truffles welcome visitors to their truffiere with tours available all year round, and truffle hunts during harvest season (June to August). As it is a working farm, bookings are essential to avoid disappointment.
Tours (and seasonal hunts) commence with a walk and talk through the truffiere where guides Maple and Ben will explain the whole process of truffle farming, from planting, to paddock to plate. Upon conclusion of the tour, lunch and a wine tasting is included at The Church: Local Wine Project – a 15 minute drive down the road.

Truffle Hunting
Become a truffle hunter and join us for a morning adventure amongst the trees, guided by the expert nose of Barry, our talented truffle dog. As he sniffs out these buried treasures, you'll experience the excitement and satisfaction of unearthing fresh aromatic truffles straight from the soil. Guests are encouraged to join guides Ben and Maple on the ground and dig for truffles. Due to seasonal variability, not all truffles will be able to be harvested on the day. After the hunt, we'll retreat to the Truffle Cottage, where the truffles will be cleaned and stored with care. Indulge in a warm, decadent treat - our signature Truffle and 3-Cheese Toastie paired with crispy Truffle Fries, and sample a selection of our favourite truffle products and a glass of local wine. This is your chance to purchase fresh truffles directly from the farmer and enjoy a truly unique and intimate experience. Tours begin at 10:30 am and finish around 12:30 pm on Fridays and Sundays in harvest season (June to August). Groups are limited to just 8 people to ensure everyone can get their hands-dirty. The ultimate paddock to plate experience!
Truffle Tour & Lunch
Truffle farmers Maple or Ben will guide you through the history of the farm and the steps involved in growing truffles. Gain first-hand knowledge of the intricate methods and conditions required to grow truffles in our unique Queensland climate. As you walk through the paddock, you'll have the opportunity to ask questions, whether you're curious about the soil, the growing process, or the unique partnership between oak trees and truffles. At the conclusion of the tour, you'll take a short drive down the road to The Church: Local Wine Project where you can relax and unwind with an entrée grazing platter showcasing a selection of fresh local produce and locally made truffle products while enjoying a curated wine tasting. The main course consists of our signature Truffle & 3-Cheese toastie, with share plates of truffle fries using truffles grown on farm.
