Overview

The Folly Truffles is Queensland’s first commercial truffle farm, located in Ballandean in the heart of Granite Belt Wine Country.

Visitors can experience life on a working truffle farm through guided tours available throughout the year and seasonal truffle hunts during harvest. Tours begin with a walk through the truffière, where visitors learn how black truffles are grown, harvested and prepared for the table. Guides Maple and Ben share the story of truffle farming, from planting and production through to the finished product.

During harvest season, visitors may also have the opportunity to watch trained truffle dogs search for truffles beneath the soil.

The experience continues with a truffle-inspired lunch and wine tasting at The Church: Local Wine Project, showcasing local produce and regional wines.

As a working farm, The Folly Truffles is not open for casual visits and does not operate a farm shop. Bookings are essential. Visitors should arrange a tour or experience before arriving to ensure access to the property and availability of guides.

The Folly Truffles offers a unique opportunity to discover one of Australia’s most distinctive agricultural products while connecting with the people, produce and stories of the Granite Belt.

Truffle Hunting

Become a truffle hunter and join us for a morning adventure amongst the trees, guided by the expert nose of Barry, our talented truffle dog. As he sniffs out these buried treasures, you'll experience the excitement and satisfaction of unearthing fresh aromatic truffles straight from the soil. Guests are encouraged to join guides Ben and Maple on the ground and dig for truffles. Due to seasonal variability, not all truffles will be able to be harvested on the day. After the hunt, we'll retreat to the Truffle Cottage, where the truffles will be cleaned and stored with care. Indulge in a warm, decadent truffle lunch and cooking demonstration and sample a selection of our favourite truffle products. Pick up a local bottle of wine on your way. This is your chance to purchase fresh truffles directly from the farmer and enjoy a truly unique and intimate experience. Tours begin at 10:30 am and finish around 12:30 pm on weekends during harvest season (June to August). Groups are limited to just 8 people to ensure everyone can get their hands-dirty. The ultimate paddock to plate experience!
